2 Corinthians 1:8-9
We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. 9 In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. |
Life can be incredibly challenging at times. There will undoubtedly be seasons when we become squeezed by the hardships of life as we journey though it. Pain, doubt, and confusion are oftentimes waiting on their chance to greet us as we walk in the deep valleys of the spiritual press. During these moments we may not understand what is going on or why it is happening, but God always does! Many of us have experienced moments in our lives where the press of life became so painful that tomorrow seemed all but lost and perhaps more of a curse than a blessing. But it is always in those moments that God does His mightiest work! It is in the press that He reveals the depths of who He is. It is also in the press that He reveals everything that we aren't.
He reveals His love, His power, and His might! He proves himself faithful as our Savior and confident hope! It is only after facing hardships in life that are "beyond our ability to endure" that we too can say with confidence "we think you ought to know dear brother and sisters" that nothing is impossible for God (2 Corinthians 1:8). He is more than able! His strength works best in our weakness and His light shines the brightest in our moments of darkness.
Father, thank You for being forever faithful! Thank You for being a gracious and loving God who never sleeps and never slumbers! Thank You for securing our victory long before we get there, and far before we often see it. Thank You for Your perfect ways! Help us to rest in Your ways and to walk in Your light. In the mighty and all-powerful name of Jesus we pray! Amen.
