David undoubtedly went through many challenging situations in his life. Sooner or later we will all go through one of life's many storms. When we do, the difference between getting swept away by the flood and finding higher ground on solid rock is realizing that He truly is the Rock!
There is no storm too big and no mountain too tall that won't fit underneath His wings of protection. The same Holy God who created the world certainly knows every mountain, valley, and cave that we may encounter within it. He is more than capable of protecting us from any danger! David had come to the realization that the source of his safety was found in nothing other than the Lord. He made an intentional choice to cry out to the Lord rather than focus on the circumstances that were crying out to him. It is only when looking to the Lord that we, like David, are able to hear our Father's loving reminder that He "will fulfill His purpose" in our lives (vs 2). Rest assured, He who started the good work in us is faithful to complete it! (Philippians 1:6)
Father,
Thank You for Your wings of protection that cover us in our moments of despair. Help us to always look to You first in our times of trouble. Thank You for going before us, securing our victory, and for faithfully completing every good work that You prepared for us to do in advance. We love You Lord! Amen.
