2 Kings 13:21 Once when some Israelites were burying a man, they spied a band of these raiders. So they hastily threw the corpse into the tomb of Elisha and fled. But as soon as the body touched Elisha’s bones, the dead man revived and jumped to his feet!

I read this verse the other day and remembered the story of a man coming back to life when his body touched Elisha's bones. I suppose I was always so amazed by the thought of the miracle that I completely overlooked the events leading up to it. Their fear of raiders led them to hastily throw this man’s body into a place it normally wouldn’t have been (2 Kings 13:21).
Continuing to recall this story in the Bible, I began to think about everything going on in the world today and how fear still causes us to do things we normally wouldn’t do. For example, there is fear of a virus raiding people’s lives and homes, or civil unrest continuing to lurk in our city streets. However, it is often in our greatest fear that God reveals His greatest power (2 Corinthians 12:9). Fear isn’t of the Lord (2 Timothy 1:7).. Thankfully He uses what the enemy intended to harm us for our good (Genesis 50:20). It was the fear of the world outside that led a lifeless man to God’s healing inside. Rest assured, even in life’s greatest storms God is working (2 Timothy 2:13). He is healing! He is still in control!
Father, thank you for your healing power. Thank you for the work you continue to do in us. Lead us in your ways! Help us to seek you in all that we do. Thank you for always being faithful, even in our fears. It’s in your mighty name, Jesus, we pray. Amen.
