John 21:4-5 (NLT)
At dawn Jesus was standing on the beach, but the disciples couldn’t see who he was. 5 He called out, “Fellows, have you caught any fish?” John 21:7 (NLT) Then the disciple Jesus loved said to Peter, “It’s the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his tunic (for he had stripped for work), jumped into the water, and headed to shore. |
At some point in our lives, we have all cast our net in empty places instead of listening to the One that is the source of our provision. Jesus stands at the seashore of our hearts and calls out to us in our moments of disappointment and despair. “Fellows, have you…” are the tender words of redirection that He often speaks as we listen to His voice. His call is constant and His love is pure. His provision is endless for those who choose to listen to the Lifeguard on the shore.
His grace and mercy open the eyes of every fisherman that previously couldn’t see. It is in the presence of the Lord that the tired fisherman’s empty nets become overflowing with the best of life's sea. His blessings are abundant for those, like Simon, who earnestly seek His face. When our eyes are fixed upon Him, we too, will find abundant mercy in the overflowing streams of His Grace.
Daddy God,
Thank You for always thinking of our best interest and for continually calling out to us as we go throughout our day. May we always keep our eyes focused on You and Your ways. Thank You for Your mercies that renew each morning and the blessings that flow from Your overwhelming grace. We love You Lord! Amen.
