Matthew 4:4 (NIV)
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” |
Our Heavenly Father has provided His word, the Bible. Every word written, spoken, and even His very breath fills each page with HIs truth. Even now as we read it, He speaks words to our heart through His Spirit. He is the Word! (John 11:1, John 1:14)
No wonder we shouldn't try to live by bread alone. Bread gets stale! But the Word of God is the truth, and the truth will set you free!
John 8:32 (NLT)
And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
Free from doubt, confusion, depression, and worry. If we want to live a life free of these things, there is a solution in God's word! Every time we read God's word, we feed ourselves with His life giving words.
Just like this verse in Matthew, when Jesus was tempted by satan, He responds with God's word! We will certainly be tempted to listen to the lies of this world, but we can choose to follow the example of Jesus. When we find a verse that applies to our particular "situation" and begin speaking truth over it, satan's lies are exposed and quickly defeated! The Sword of the Spirit, aka the word of God is sharper than any two edge sword and slices through every lie of the enemy! (Hebrews 4:12)
As we consume His word and chew on His truth, our spirit, soul, and body will also come into allignment with the words of Truth.. And as it does, the circumstances that we know to be true, must surrender to the One who is Truth.
Daddy God,
We rejoice in the truth and praise You for it! Guide us into all truth. Teach us to live by Your word alone and help us not to buy into the lies of this world. Give us a new revelation of who we are in You. Give us a word in each season we go through. We love you, Lord. In Jesus name we pray. Amen!,
