John 21:9-13 (NLT)
9 When they got there, they found breakfast waiting for them—fish cooking over a charcoal fire, and some bread. 10 “Bring some of the fish you’ve just caught,” Jesus said. 11 So Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net to the shore. There were 153 large fish, and yet the net hadn’t torn. 12 “Now come and have some breakfast!” Jesus said. None of the disciples dared to ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. 13 Then Jesus served them the bread and the fish. |
Jesus is our provider! He goes before us and secures our victory long before we ever get there. Jesus not only filled their empty nets, He provided their daily bread. Sometimes, it is easy to allow the enemy to distract us and cause us to lose sight of the many blessing He provides. In this story Jesus asked Simon Peter to "bring some of the fish" from the boat (John 21:10). Why would Jesus ask Simon Peter to bring fish when He had already prepared fish for breakfast? Jesus didn't need the fish. He purposefully got Simon Peter to go back and count his blessing. Peter went back and literally counted his blessing - 153 of them to be exact. Then Jesus said, "now come and have some breakfas.t" (John 21:12). When we count our blessings before coming to His table we are more thankful for what He has provided, and reminded of who He is!
Dad,
We rejoice in Your presence. Thank you for not only filling our nets but providing for our daily needs. Thank you for the patience You give us when we sometimes lose sight of your blessings and Your face! We love you Lord. Amen.
