It was when Barak began to advance that the Lord routed Sisera and all the chariots of the enemy. God is undoubtedly our Deliver and Banner of Victory! He is our source of strength and without Him we would surely perish! He equips us, calls us, and empowers us, but He doesn't do it for us. He expects us to take the step! A step of faith, and a step along the path of victory that He has already gone before us, in advance, and prepared.
The Israelites also experienced this same need to step into their victory (Joshua 3:15). God didn't part the water a mile away or even a few feet away. He waited on the Israelites to step foot into the river and not a second before. When they stepped in faith, He literally met them right where they were. The waters that previously seemed impassable parted right before their eyes (Joshua 3:16). Their path to victory, that was being hidden by the flooded banks of the Jordan River, became physically visible to them for first time. He is faithful to complete the good work that He started in each of us! Our first step in advancing begins with our willingness to "go" (Judges 4:6). Perhaps our victory, like Barak's, is only a step of faith away. Isn't it time to advance to go?
Father, thank You for being our Banner of Victory! Thank You for going before us and making a way, even when we don't see it. Thank You for teaching us faith, and for each and every one of Your faithful promises! Help us to walk in the victory that You have provided, and to take the step of faith when You tell us to go. We love you Lord! Amen.
