Luke 6:38 (NLT)
Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken to- gether to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.
The amount we give will determine the amount we get back. Wow!! What an awesome promise! But we must take the initiative to start the process. Like a snow ball rolling down a hill, the further it goes the more it grows. Why not start now? How different the world would be if we all had a Frosty the snowman that was 10 stories tall!!
Thinking about this is really awesome! I love to give, but my giving is limited to what I have available. Or rather, what I “perceive” to have available. But typically there is always a little cushion in there I could squeeze out. The compounding of money in a 401k comes to mind. Starting early, even if putting in less, leads to a much bigger amount when it comes time to retire. The difference in just one percent or a few years can easily make a $100,000 difference over the course of a lifetime. Just like the time value of money multiplies our investment, God multiplies our ability to give! All we have to do is start the process and the rest will take care of itself. Today’s economic environment is another great reminder of how there is not a more secure investment than the one managed by God himself! I think of all the money that has been lost over the past several years (billions of dollars). It’s hard to fathom how God would have used all of that money if we had invested even 10% of it in others instead of ourselves.
To a world covered in snow, and giant Frostys in abundance!
